Bangladesh Cricket Board president Aminul Islam Bulbul travelled to Kuwait on Tuesday night to attend the Asian Cricket Council meeting, which takes place on Wednesday with leaders from across the continent.
Bulbul arrived in Kuwait earlier today and will sit down with heads of Asian cricket boards during the gathering. He plans to return to Dhaka after a two-day visit, keeping the trip brief but pointed.
The ACC meeting comes at a delicate moment for regional cricket. Recent tensions around tournament participation have forced administrators to balance politics, diplomacy and the game’s wider interests.
Bangladesh previously declined to travel to India for the T20 World Cup, leaving the tournament to begin without them. That decision reshaped the early narrative of the competition.
Pakistan then backed Bangladesh publicly and even considered boycotting their match against India. That stance softened after diplomatic engagement from several friendly nations.
Pakistan’s government later cleared the team to play India following requests from allies. Bangladesh stood among the countries urging Pakistan to prioritise cricket over confrontation.
Bulbul played a direct role in that outreach. He pushed for Pakistan to take the field, framing participation as a matter of cricket’s greater good rather than short-term posturing.
