Bangladesh Bank (BB) is set to release a new Tk10 denomination bank note on Tuesday, as part of its new series titled “Historical and Archaeological Heritage of Bangladesh.”
The new note, bearing the signature of Governor Ahsan Habib Mansur, will initially be issued from the Motijheel office of the central bank. It will subsequently be made available through other offices of Bangladesh Bank.
According to a press release from the Department of Communications and Publications, the central bank has undertaken a programme to print new notes for all denominations – including Tk 1000, Tk 500, Tk 200, Tk 100, Tk 50, Tk 20, Tk 10, Tk 5, and Tk 2 – under this historical series.
To date, notes for the Tk 1000, Tk 500, Tk 100, Tk 50, and Tk 20 denominations have already been introduced on the market.
Design and security features
The new pink-colored bank note measures 123 mm x 60 mm. The front side features an image of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on the left. The center and background include images of the national flower, the Water Lily (Shapla), along with tea plant leaves and buds.
The reverse side of the note prominently features “Graffiti-2024.”
For security, the note includes a watermark of the “face of a Royal Bengal Tiger”. Below the tiger, there is a bright electrotype watermark of the number ’10’ alongside the Bangladesh Bank monogram.
