Police have rescued the Deputy Director of Bangladesh Bank Naeem Rahman from Royal Rest House in Puran Bazar, Madaripur around 10:30pm on Tuesday.
Madaripur District Administration Executive Magistrate Nayem Sharkar, officers from Sadar Model Police Station and senior officials of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police led the operation of searching Naeem.
Madaripur Police Super Naimul Hasan said Naeem joined his office on Sunday morning. After 12pm, he left his bag and ID card at the office and went out. Since then, he remained unreachable.
His family then filed a general diary (GD) with Motijheel Police Station in Dhaka
Based on the GD, police discovered that he was staying in Madaripur. Following the lead, a raid was conducted and he was rescued from the hotel. Later, he was taken into police custody.
According to the hotel authorities, he checked into the hotel on Sunday afternoon. He had come to attend a job exam and would stay for two to three days. He also paid the rent in advance. In the hotel register, his address was listed as Pallabi, Mirpur, Dhaka, and his father’s name was recorded as Syed Mostafizur Rahman.
Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Adil Hossain said, “After completing legal formalities, Naeem would be handed over to Motijheel Police on Wednesday. He is currently being kept at the Charmuguria Police Outpost.
