Banglavision will air a special programme titled Samyer Gaan Gai to mark the 50th death anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
The programme has been curated as a tribute to Nazrul’s enduring works and his messages of rebellion, equality, humanity and communal harmony.
Renowned Nazrul Sangeet exponent Dr Nasheed Kamal will appear as a guest artiste.
Recitation artistes from Baikuntha Recitation Academy and Kabya Kuhuk will perform a selection of Nazrul’s timeless poetry and other works.
Vocalists from Talim Sangeet Charcha Chakra will also take part in two ensemble songs.
Through a combination of music, recitation and narration, Samyer Gaan Gai will highlight the themes of equality, human dignity, resistance to oppression and exploitation, and secularism that run through Nazrul’s creative legacy.
The programme will be presented and narrated by Sakila Matin Mridula, with Rafiqul Islam Faruqi serving as producer.
Samyer Gaan Gai will air on Banglavision at 6:25pm on Thursday, 27 August (12 Bhadra).
The special programme seeks to carry Nazrul’s timeless call for equality and humanity to a new generation while paying tribute to one of Bengal’s most influential poets.
