Singer Sutapa Mondal and musician Monks Pearl have joined forces for ‘Megh Arale’, a new song released under the banner of Gaanchill Music on 15 October. Dibash Krishna Biswas wrote the lyrics, while Adit Rahman composed and arranged the music.
The song captures the emotions of waiting, distance and separation through images of raindrops, dark clouds and someone gazing out of a window.
It explores the pain of being apart from a loved one and the memories that linger in their absence. Melancholy, quiet longing and intimate feelings of love shape its musical atmosphere.
The music video complements the song with a carefully designed visual setting. An artist’s room, canvases, a gramophone, antique furniture and musical instruments create a nostalgic backdrop.
The use of light and colour adds a cinematic quality, with deep blue and green tones contrasted against golden lighting.
Sutapa said she travelled from Satkhira to Dhaka to record the song and learned about it only an hour before the session began. She had not even seen the lyrics beforehand.
“I came to Dhaka from Satkhira for ‘Megh Arale’. I learned about the new song only an hour before the recording, and I had not seen the lyrics either. Alongside singing the female version, my two sisters, Suhani and Shrestha, were also involved in the overall production,” she said.
Monks Pearl, also known as Momroz, performed the male version. He described the project as a new creative journey and thanked Gaanchill and Fatman Originals Production for helping bring it to life.
“I see ‘Megh Arale’ as the beginning of a new creative journey. I am grateful to Gaanchill and Fatman Originals Production for making this project possible. I hope listeners enjoy the song and become part of this creative journey,” he said.
Monks Pearl added that the other songs from the first season would be released soon. He also plans to return with new songs and an upcoming album.
With its evocative lyrics, contrasting vocals and atmospheric visuals, ‘Megh Arale’ brings together two performers in a song built around the enduring emotions of love and longing.
