The Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) Governing Board has emphasised accelerating reforms needed to implement Version 2.0 of the government’s electronic procurement system, aimed at modernising and simplifying public purchasing procedures.
The issue was discussed at the board’s fifth meeting on Sunday, chaired by Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury at the BPPA conference room on the Planning Commission campus in Dhaka, the authority said in a press release.
The 10-member board stressed the need to expedite Business Process Reengineering (BPR), a key step in the transition to the upgraded electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) platform.
The meeting also reviewed the authority’s recently approved staffing structure of 110 positions and preparations for its service regulations.
State Minister for Planning and BPPA Governing Board Senior Vice-Chair Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki attended, along with Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division Secretary and Board Vice-Chair Shirajun Noor Chowdhury.
BPPA CEO and Board Member-Secretary Abu Sayed Md Kamruzzaman and other board members were also present.
The BPPA was established on 18 September 2023 through the transformation of the Central Procurement Technical Unit, which had operated under the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division since 2002.
The governing board previously met on 9 July.
