Singer Mahbuba Keya has taken a new step in her career, joining the music department of Ghatail English School and College in Ghatail, Tangail, as a teacher.
She received her appointment letter from the institution’s principal, Lieutenant Colonel Mahidur Rahman, on the morning of 18 October.
The singer said she was delighted to join an educational institution close to her home and fulfil a long-held dream. She expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah, her family and her husband, Mashiur Rahman, for their continued support and encouragement.
“Alhamdulillah, a major dream of my life has finally come true. I am deeply grateful to Almighty Allah. I am also thankful to my family and my husband, Mashiur, who have always stood beside me and inspired me in many ways. I will try my best to fulfil the responsibilities entrusted to me,” she said.
Mahbuba will begin teaching on 24 October, taking classes for higher secondary students. She will also teach music to children in the pre-primary section and the institution’s Children’s Club.
She completed her Secondary School Certificate at Jamalpur Government Girls’ School and her Higher Secondary Certificate at Ashik Mahmud Government College. She later earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Department of Music at Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University.
Her husband, Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, works as a demonstrator at Kabi Nazrul Government College.
Mahbuba has also released original music. A few years ago, she lent her voice to the song ‘Acho Tumi Jotone’, which she wrote herself, with Aniruddha Shuvo composing the music.
Her parents, Mohammad Mozammel Haque and Fatema Akter Kakoli, are delighted and proud of her latest achievement. She has two sons, Mahathir and Maharaj, while her younger sister, Jannatul Ferdous Hridi, studies at a medical college in Tangail.
Before joining the school, Mahbuba taught music through the online platform Shikkhaguru. According to the platform, more than 4,000 students have taken part in its various courses since 2022.
Her new role brings together her musical training and her interest in teaching, allowing her to share her experience with students of different age groups.
