Singer and actor Tahsan Khan is using his break from music to reconnect with the person he was before fame became a defining part of his life. Nearly a year after announcing his departure from a 25-year musical career, he remains focused on enjoying life rather than planning a comeback.
Tahsan, who celebrates his birthday on 18 October, has no special plans for the occasion. He prefers to spend the day normally instead of making elaborate arrangements.
Looking back on his career, Tahsan sees a significant difference between his early years and his life as a recognised artiste.
During his current break, he is trying to rediscover the joy he once found in writing songs, composing music, recording tracks and performing at concerts. He said he had gradually forgotten how to appreciate these experiences and now wants distance from fame and its complications.
For Tahsan, the greatest reward of his long career lies in the songs that continue to live in listeners’ hearts.
Having written numerous songs and composed music for many others, he said he does not dwell on what he may have missed.
His daughter, Ayra, remains another source of happiness. Their playful father-daughter song, recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic, once went viral.
Tahsan believes Ayra may eventually become an even better artiste than him. Her latest request was to visit New York Comic Con.
Tahsan also said his understanding of life has changed over time. He has developed his own philosophy but prefers to keep it private, adding that he might express it through songs or poetry if he eventually finds the right words.
Although listeners continue to ask for new music, Tahsan has no immediate plans to return. He thanked his fans for their continued affection but said he was unlikely to pursue another professional identity after having explored so many roles.
For now, the singer is content with taking a step back and rediscovering himself away from the spotlight.
