Tollywood Actress Nusrat Jahan has drawn criticism on social media after sharing glimpses of her Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata with her husband, actor Yash.
On Saturday, 17 October, the couple visited several temples to mark Maha Shashthi. Videos shared online showed Nusrat playing traditional drums at one temple before dancing to their beats at another.
Her posts prompted some users to question her participation in the Hindu festival because she follows Islam. Others made personal remarks about her religious identity.
Nusrat, however, has previously defended her participation in Durga Puja, saying that faith is a personal choice and should not be restricted by religion or language.
She has also faced criticism for wearing sindoor during Dashami celebrations in previous years.
The actress has often shared moments from the festival with her family, making her participation a recurring subject of online debate.
The latest episode has once again drawn attention to the scrutiny public figures face over their religious choices and personal expressions of faith.
