After heavy rain disrupted Bangladesh’s opening training session, the national football team returned to the pitch on Wednesday for their second practice ahead of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifier against Hong Kong, China.
Team manager Amer Khan spoke to the media following the session, emphasising the importance of flexibility in their preparations. “The first practice day was disrupted due to heavy rain, but we have planned our further practice sessions keeping the weather in mind. We can’t control the weather, but we can adjust our plans accordingly,” he said.
Khan also reassured supporters that Bangladesh will have a full-strength squad by the time of the qualifier. “I’m pretty sure we’re getting all the players for the match,” he confirmed.
On the subject of injuries, Khan took a realistic stance. “Injury is an uncertain thing. It can happen anytime to any player, but we want to prepare ourselves in such a way that we do not lose our strength in unexpected circumstances,” he explained.
Asked about the role of foreign-based midfielder Fahamedul in the selection process, Khan clarified his own position. “The selection of the national team totally depends on the coach. My job is to provide logistic support and ensure everything runs according to plan,” he said.
With the disrupted start now behind them, Javier Cabrera’s men are expected to intensify their preparations over the coming days before facing Hong Kong in Dhaka on 9 October.
