Syed Ehsanul Huda, chairman of the Bangladesh Jatiya Dal, has formally joined the BNP after dissolving his own party along with his supporters.
The joining ceremony was held on Monday afternoon at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Dhaka, where Huda presented a bouquet to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir as a formal gesture of affiliation.
According to BNP sources, Ehsanul Huda is going to contest the upcoming the 13th National Parliamentary Election from Kishoreganj-5 constituency with BNP’s ticket.
Congratulating the newcomers, Mirza Fakhrul said, “Syed Ehsanul Huda and his team have joined the BNP, expressing confidence in Tarique Rahman’s leadership, upholding the 19-point programme of party founder Ziaur Rahman, and showing trust in Khaleda Zia. Their inclusion will strengthen the BNP further.”
Speaking at the event, Ehsanul Huda said, “BNP is a party committed to nationalist ideals. In this critical period for the country, I have joined to strengthen the leadership of Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman. Various conspiracies are being hatched to undermine the election, and uniting with the BNP is the way to resist them.”
He added, “I hope to contribute to building a prosperous Bangladesh guided by the 31-point vision, just as I have fought for the people in the past.”
BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan was also present at the ceremony.
