Ashik Chowdhury, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), will skydive with a paratrooper team on the Victory Day, wearing a helmet painted with the portrait of Sharif Osman Hadi.
The announcement was made on Sunday via a post by the chief adviser press wing.
According to the post, on 16 December, 54 paratroopers will perform a jump carrying the national flag of Bangladesh in an attempt to set a world record.
Ashik Chowdhury, also executive chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), will be one of the participants, wearing a helmet featuring Osman Hadi’s portrait.
The post called on everyone to pray for Hadi’s swift recovery, describing him as a vanguard of independence and sovereignty.
Hadi was shot on Friday around 2:15pm in front of the water tank in Bijoynagar, Dhaka.
He was immediately admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later transferred to Evercare Hospital that night. A medical board formed for his treatment has currently placed him under conservative management.
The government has announced a reward of Tk 5 million for information leading to the capture of those involved in the assassination attempt.
Home Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury made the announcement on Saturday following a meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat.
