The International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) issued arrest warrants for 26 individuals, including former MP Habib Hasan, on Thursday.
They are charged in connection with the killing of Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugdha and others during the July mass uprising in Uttara, Dhaka.
A three-member bench of the tribunal, led by Justice Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order after taking the formal charges filed by the prosecution into cognizance.
Earlier, the prosecution submitted the formal charges to the court. During the hearing, Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim read out excerpts from the formal charges, asserting that there are sufficient elements to take the allegations against the accused into cognizance.
Following the hearing, the court accepted the charges and issued the arrest warrants against the fugitive accused.
The tribunal has scheduled 21 January as the date for the next hearing in the case.
