Weeks after announcing that he would no longer accept new playback assignments, Arijit Singh has returned to social media with a personal message for his listeners, confirming that several unreleased songs will continue to be released in the coming months.
Posting on X, the singer addressed fans directly. “This message is just for my listeners. Hello beautiful people! I just want to tell you all that I love you. Thank you so much for your kindness in this ruthless world,” he wrote. He added that previously recorded tracks would continue to be released “until done”, a process that could extend into next year.
In January, Arijit stunned the music industry by announcing that he would stop taking on new playback projects. “I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey,” he had written at the time.
The decision sparked widespread debate online, with many fans questioning whether it signalled a complete departure from music. His latest statement, however, clarifies that while no new assignments are on the horizon, his existing commitments will continue to reach audiences.
Arijit explained that he has “a lot of songs” already recorded and signed, and that these tracks will be released gradually over the course of this year and possibly into the next.
One of his recent projects includes work on the upcoming film ‘Ek Din’, starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, which is expected to feature among the final releases of his playback career.
Since his breakthrough with ‘Phir Mohabbat’ in 2011, Arijit has become one of Bollywood’s most recognisable and influential playback voices, known for his emotional depth and versatility.
For fans, the message is reassuring. While he may have stepped away from new playback assignments, his voice will continue to resonate for some time yet.
