Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank has begun implementing a core banking system across all its branches, aiming to complete the automation process within nine months.
The bank formally launched the implementation of LEADS Corporation Ltd’s core banking software, BankUltimus, at a kick-off meeting held at Rupayan Trade Centre in Dhaka on Sunday.
Bank Managing Director Mir Mofazzul Hossain, Western Engineering Group’s Group Managing Director Bashir Ahmed and Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force Deputy Director Md Anwar Hossain Sarker attended the meeting, along with executives from the bank and LEADS Corporation Ltd.
The bank said the system would replace its manual banking operations, which have resulted in slower customer service, delays in inter-branch transactions and the absence of real-time reporting.
Ansar-VDP Unnayan Bank has worked for more than three decades to support the economic development of grassroots members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, but has faced operational limitations because it lacked a full core banking system.
As part of the automation process, the bank is considering introducing a mobile application, EFTN, RTGS, NPSB and online CIB services.
The management plans to make the digital services available to customers within one year.
Once the core banking system and digital channels are introduced, customers and grassroots members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force will be able to conduct real-time online transactions, transfer funds between banks and access digital loan services remotely.
The bank said the services would reduce customers’ travel time and costs, improve data security and strengthen transparency and accountability in its operations.
