The authorities of Magbazar Ad-din Medical College Hospital have requested an opportunity to continue regular healthcare services in the greater interest of patients, despite the cancellation of its licence following the deaths of six newborns.
The hospital has expressed the expectation to keep services operational until the government reaches a final decision, according to a press release issued on Thursday signed by Tariqul Islam Mukul, Director of the Company Affairs Division of the Ad-din Foundation.
The Directorate General of Health Services recently cancelled the hospital’s licence after six newborn infants died suddenly at the facility. However, the hospital authorities have been given 30 days to appeal against the order to the government.
Ad-din Hospital authorities claim that despite the unfortunate incident, all types of medical services are currently operating normally at the facility, which is known as a key healthcare provider for middle and lower-middle class people in Moghbazar.
According to the press release, 416 patients are currently admitted to the hospital. Approximately 1,000 patients were provided healthcare services in the Outpatient Department (OPD) on June 11 alone.
A significant number of critical patients are undergoing treatment in the hospital’s specialised units, the press release stated. Currently, 60 newborns are receiving treatment in the NICU, 20 patients in the ICU, and 4 patients in the CCU.
The hospital authorities are awaiting the government’s final decision while continuing to provide care to these patients.
