The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Saturday launched another raid at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) headquarters in Mirpur, barely a month after its previous operation, as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and irregularities.
A four-member ACC team arrived at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium around 1:00pm to examine multiple allegations, including constitutional violations within the BCB, questions over the legality of the current board, and suspected financial misconduct.
The probe also focuses on alleged anomalies in the third-division league selection process during a former BCB president’s tenure, as well as corruption allegations against current BCB President Faruq Ahmed.
This follows an earlier raid by a three-member ACC team that investigated claims of irregularities in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) ticket sales and other issues. During that operation, ACC officials reportedly uncovered financial discrepancies related to Mujib Borsho (Mujib Year) events organised by the BCB and seized relevant documents. A report on those findings is expected to be submitted to the ACC’s Enforcement Unit for further action.
Sources added that the commission is also reviewing complaints regarding the third-division league’s selection process. No official statement has been released yet regarding Saturday’s raid.
