The Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the results of the multiple-choice (MCQ) written examination for the 49th (Special) BCS on Sunday night, with 1,219 candidates qualifying for the next stage.

According to a PSC press release, the viva voce will begin on 26 October- one week after the results- following the commission’s pre-announced schedule.

Through this special BCS, 683 candidates will be recruited to the general education cadre. PSC sources said that more than 312,000 applicants had applied for this BCS, meaning that an average of around 456 candidates competed for each post.

The circular for this education cadre-focused special BCS was published on 21 July this year. The MCQ-based written test took place on 10 October at several centres across Dhaka and other divisional cities. A total of 176,670 candidates sat for the exam, marking a participation rate of 56.49% of all applicants.
