Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Saturday said the schedule for the 13th national election will be announced in the first week of December this year.

He has reiterated the unwavering commitment of the Election Commission to conduct a free, fair and neutral national election, promising to face and overcome any challenges.

Speaking to reporters in Barishal district after a series of meetings, the CEC said, “We will leave no stone unturned to ensure that this election earns the trust of the people.”

Reaffirming the EC stance, Nasir stated, “The oath I took upon assuming this responsibility compels me to guarantee an election that upholds the highest standards of transparency and integrity. All relevant authorities have pledged their full cooperation to make this happen.”

When asked about the participation of parties currently under restrictions, the CEC made it clear that any political party facing a legal ban would not be allowed to contest the polls until legal issues are resolved.

“This is a government directive, not an instruction from any intelligence agency. We will address every obstacle and deliver a credible election,” he added.
