Young artist Samina Zaman’s first solo exhibition ‘Poetry of Time’ inaugurated on Thursday, October 9, at Zainul Gallery, Dhaka University’s Faculty of Fine Arts (FFA).
Organized by Zainul Gallery, the exhibition featured 31 artworks in mixed media and watercolor on paper, showcasing Zaman’s nuanced exploration of time, memory and human experience.
The inauguration was attended by Dr Abdus Sattar, Honorary Professor, Department of Oriental Art, Dhaka University FFA, as chief guest, while Dr Azharul Islam Sheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Gopal Chandra Trivedi, Chairman, Department of Oriental Art, joined as special guests.
Dr Shake Manir Uddin, Chairman, Department of Art History at Dhaka University is the curator of the exhibition.

Currently working as a designer at Deshal Limited, Samina Zaman has already made her mark in the national and international art scene. Born on May 15, 1995 in Natore, she earned her MFA in Oriental Art from Dhaka University in 2018, securing 1st Class 1st position, and her BFA Honours in 2016 with 1st Class 2nd position.
Her accolades include the Experimental Award at the Annual Oriental Painting Exhibition in 2017 and 2018, the Abinta Excellence Award in 2018, and the Artist Aminul Islam Memorial Award in 2016. She has also participated in national and international exhibitions such as the 25th National Art Exhibition in 2023, the 23rd Young Artist Art Exhibition in 2022, and the 1st International Watercolor Biennale Exhibition in 2018.

‘Poetry of Time’ reflects Zaman’s evolving artistic maturity, translating her sensitivity to time and emotion into a cohesive visual language that underscores her emerging voice in contemporary Bangladeshi art.
The exhibition will remain open daily from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm until October 15 at the Zainul Gallery.
