Dengue has claimed three more lives in the country in the last 24 hours, raising this year’s death toll in the mosquito-borne disease to 195.

During the same period, 735 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The DGHS report, released on Monday, stated that the deaths occurred between 8am on Sunday and 8am on Monday.

One death was reported each from Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka Division and Barishal Division. In terms of hospitalisations, the highest number of cases was recorded in Dhaka Division with 156 admissions.

Since January 1 this year, dengue has claimed 195 lives nationwide. Dhaka South City Corporation has recorded the highest number of fatalities with 93 deaths, followed by Barishal with 29, Dhaka North 26, Chattogram 23, Rajshahi 10, Mymensingh six, Khulna five, and Dhaka Division three.
