Sylhet Division pulled off a dramatic two-wicket victory over Barishal Division in the National Cricket League T20 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on 27 September 2025. Batting first, Barishal managed 141 for 8, powered by Fazle Mahmud Rabbi’s 60, before Sylhet chased down the target with key contributions from Amit Hasan and a late finishing partnership between Syed Khaled Ahmed and Rezaur Rahman Raja.
Barishal got off to a shaky start, losing opener Zahiduzzaman early. Fazle Rabbi responded with a strong innings, putting on 45 runs with captain Salman Hossain. Skipper Rezaur Rahman Raja added 35 runs off 21 balls, including four sixes, before being dismissed.
Although Fazle Rabbi reached his fifty, he received little support from the rest of the lineup and was eventually dismissed by Khaled for 60 off 44 balls, hitting four fours and six sixes. Barishal’s innings closed at 141 for 8 in 20 overs, with Ibadat Hossain taking three wickets for Sylhet.
Chasing 142, Sylhet suffered early setbacks. Mubin Ahmed was run out in the second over, while captain Zakir Hasan fell cheaply. Another opener, Mizanur Rahman, scored just 13 before being dismissed. Amit Hasan and Asadullah Galib stabilised the innings with a 35-run partnership, though Rahatul Ferdous failed to make an impact.
Amit Hasan top-scored for Sylhet with 39 runs off 32 balls but was run out late in the innings. With two overs remaining and 30 runs needed, a composed finish from Syed Khaled Ahmed, who scored 12 off 9 balls, and an unbeaten 19 off 7 balls from Rezaur Rahman Raja secured a two-wicket victory for Sylhet in a tense finish.
