Prime Bank PLC has signed a participation agreement with Bangladesh Bank to implement the Tk 500 crore Start-up Refinancing Fund, designed to support emerging businesses and foster entrepreneurship across the country.
The agreement was signed at the Jahangir Alam Conference Hall of Bangladesh Bank, with Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman, additional director of the central bank, and M Nazeem A Choudhury, deputy managing director of Prime Bank, representing their respective organisations. Other senior officials from both institutions were present at the event.
Under the agreement, Prime Bank will provide financing to start-up entrepreneurs through Bangladesh Bank’s refinancing facility, offering favourable terms. Additionally, the bank will offer training, technical assistance, and advisory services to help entrepreneurs scale and manage their businesses more effectively.
Prime Bank Deputy Managing Director Choudhury highlighted the collaboration as a demonstration of their shared commitment to supporting the CMSME sector.
“By facilitating access to finance and providing capacity-building support, we aim to turn entrepreneurial ideas into thriving businesses, generate employment, and contribute to Bangladesh’s sustainable economic growth,” he said.
This initiative marks another milestone in Prime Bank’s ongoing efforts to promote financial inclusion, empower entrepreneurs, and drive the nation’s transition to a resilient, innovation-driven economy.
