Cultural Affairs Adviser Mustafa Sarwar Farooki has said that his wife, actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha is best placed to explain her decision to act in Mujib, the biopic on Bangladesh’s founding leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Nusrat Imrose Tisha can explain under what circumstances and why she chose to act in Mujib,” he said speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday (April 28).
The briefing, organised to announce the invitation of Bangladeshi short film ‘Ali’ to the Cannes Film Festival, was attended by senior officials and journalists, UNB reported.
Addressing questions regarding Tisha’s involvement in the film, Farooki — known for directing acclaimed films such as ‘Bachelor’ and ‘Television’ — stressed that both he and his wife maintain complete independence in their professional lives.
“Our marriage is based on individual professional freedom,” he said. “I don’t believe we live in a society where a wife must seek permission from her husband before making professional decisions, or vice versa. Tisha makes her own choices.”
