The Election Commission (EC) has announced that the draft voter list for the upcoming national elections will be published on August 10, after addressing claims and objections, the final voter list will be published on August 31.
On Tuesday afternoon, the EC clarified that delays in amending the Voter List Act initially led to plans to publish only a supplementary list.
However, as the amendment process has been completed, the commission has now decided to publish the complete voter list.
In a prior statement, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, Md. Jahangir Alam, revealed that 44 lakh 66 thousand new voters have been added to the draft list. This updated list is set to be made public on August 10.
As of the latest update, the total number of voters in Bangladesh stands at 12 crore 37 lakh 32 thousand 274, marking a significant addition to the voter base ahead of the national elections.
The Election Commission has urged citizens to check the draft list once published and submit any claims or objections before the final list is finalized at the end of August.
