Wolverhampton Wanderers have honoured former forward Diogo Jota by inducting him into the club’s Hall of Fame following his tragic death in a car accident earlier this month.
Jota, who played a pivotal role in Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League in 2018, is remembered not only for his contributions on the pitch but also for his character off it. He moved to Liverpool in 2020 after making a significant impact at Molineux.
In a statement released late on Thursday, Matt Wild, Wolves’ director of football administration, said: “Diogo was not only a phenomenal footballer, but someone who carried himself with humility and kindness throughout his time at Wolves, and will be sorely missed by all of us.”
The club’s Hall of Fame, established in 2008, recognises players who have made a lasting impact on Wolverhampton Wanderers. Jota joins the ranks of legends such as Billy Wright, Derek Dougan and Steve Bull.
His legacy at Wolves will be remembered with great fondness by supporters and the footballing community alike.
