Dengue: One dies, 391 new cases reported  in 24hrs

One person died of dengue while 391 people were admitted to hospitals with the mosquito-borne disease across the country in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning.

The lone death was reported in Dhaka, according to the press release of the Health and Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

A total of 128 new dengue cases were reported in Barishal division, which is the highest number of cases during this period.

Of the new cases, 83 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, 308 outside of the capital.

This year, 55 people have died so far, of whom 52.7% were men and 47.3% were women, the release also informed.

It said a total of 14,460 people were infected with dengue from January 1 to July 12 of this year. Of these, 59.1% cent are men and 40.9% are women.
