A “Meet the Governor” programme on Bangla QR was held at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh on Saturday, with an interactive discussion between Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Md Mostaqur Rahman and the university’s teachers and students on various aspects of Bangla QR.
The programme was organised by BB in association with Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited (DBBL) for the university’s teachers, students, officers and staff.
The session took place at Syed Nazrul Islam Conference Hall, said a press release on Sunday.
The Governor attended as chief guest. BAU Vice Chancellor (In-charge) GM Mujibar Rahman and DBBL Managing Director and CEO Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan were present as special guests.
The cenbank Governor highlighted the importance of Bangla QR in promoting secure, convenient and interoperable digital payments through a single QR code across all banks, mobile financial services and other payment service providers.
Mostaqur Rahman said Bangla QR is playing a vital role in advancing a cashless economy. The programme introduced the features, benefits and interoperable payment system of Bangla QR to participants.
GM Mujibar Rahman thanked BB and DBBL for organising the awareness programme, saying it would help raise awareness of digital payments among students and encourage greater adoption of digital financial services.
Md Ahteshamul Haque Khan said digital transactions save both time and money, and emphasised that greater adoption of digital payments and a positive change in mindset would help accelerate Bangladesh’s journey towards a cashless economy.
Teachers, students, officers and staff of the university and guests attended the session.
