Water transport fares have been increased by 7.54 per cent following the recent rise in fuel prices, after the government increased fares for other public transport services.
The revised fares came into effect on Wednesday, with the minimum fare for passengers set at Tk35.
Under the new rates, fares for the first 100 kilometres have been increased by 23 paisa per kilometre.
For distances beyond 100 kilometres, the fare has been raised by 20 paisa per kilometre.
The fare adjustment follows the recent increase in fuel prices in the domestic market.
