A café featured in Vikrant Massey’s Netflix series ‘Musafir Cafe’ could soon move from the screen into real life, with the actor reportedly developing two cafés inspired by the show.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Massey is planning to open the cafés in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with construction reportedly already underway at both locations.
The project is being developed through Massey’s production house, Homemade Stories. The cafés are expected to recreate the look and atmosphere of the establishment seen in ‘Musafir Cafe’, rather than simply using the series’ name.
Each location is also reportedly planned to include around 20 rooms for artist residencies, extending the fictional world of the series into a real-life creative space.
In ‘Musafir Cafe’, Massey plays Chander, a man who moves to the hills while trying to rebuild his life. The café becomes an important part of his new chapter.
The series, adapted from Divya Prakash Dubey’s novel, also stars Vedika Pinto and Mahima Makwana.
Parts of the series were filmed at Jharipani Castle in Mussoorie, which has since attracted fans interested in visiting locations featured in the show.
Massey had previously spoken about his desire to open a café. In an interview with Amar Ujala, he mentioned locations including Dharamkot, Dharamshala, Chamba and Kufri in Himachal Pradesh.
The idea also has a personal connection for the actor, as his wife, actor Sheetal Thakur, is from Himachal Pradesh. The couple married in a traditional Himachali ceremony in 2022.
Massey’s reported plans for the cafés now appear to bring his long-discussed idea closer to reality while extending the spirit of ‘Musafir Cafe’ beyond the screen.
