Actor Hasan Masood has joined an education consultancy firm, prompting fresh speculation among his fans about whether he is stepping away from acting.
Masood has taken up the position of Head of Student Acquisition and Brand at the company, which works with students seeking higher education abroad. He has already appeared in several promotional campaigns for the organisation.
The actor’s move comes amid renewed discussion about his future in the entertainment industry. Although he has worked in television and film for more than two decades, his screen appearances have become increasingly irregular in recent years.
Masood made his film debut in Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s Bachelor in 2003. He subsequently became a familiar face on television, appearing in popular productions including Housefull, FDC, Graduate, Ronger Duniya, Behind the Scene and Khunsuti.
Acting, however, is only one part of Masood’s career. Before entering the entertainment industry, he served in the Bangladesh Army. He later worked as a journalist before eventually moving in front of the camera. He also pursued music and released an album in 2006.
The latest development follows a controversy over remarks attributed to Masood about taking a break from acting. Reports suggested that he planned to perform Hajj and then devote himself to religious activities, while some reports interpreted his comments as a decision to leave acting permanently.
Masood later clarified that he had never said he was quitting acting for good. He said he had simply stopped working because he was not finding suitable content.
A few months ago, reports of his illness also caused concern among fans. After returning from Hajj, however, he took part in advertising work.
His latest corporate appointment has once again raised questions about his acting career. For now, Masood’s new professional role has added another chapter to the career of an artiste who has worked as a soldier, journalist, musician and actor.
