564 arrested in DMP raids across Dhaka

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 564 people in regular anti-crime drives across the capital over the past 24 hours.

During the operations, police filed 58 cases over various offences, according to a press release issued by the DMP on Friday.

The arrested people include 26 from Ramna Division, 40 from Lalbagh Division, 79 from Wari Division, 77 from Motijheel Division, 114 from Tejgaon Division, 153 from Mirpur Division, 36 from Gulshan Division, 35 from Uttara Division and four from the Detective Branch.

Police recovered 2,194 yaba tablets, 3.715kg of cannabis, 62 grams of heroin, six mobile phones, seven pairs of stolen shoes, 200.15 grams of gold ornaments and 1,000 pieces of coloured paper during the raids.

The DMP said the arrests were made during separate drives across different police station areas in Dhaka, with various evidence and narcotics recovered from the suspects.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, the police said.
