United Commercial Bank (UCB) held an awareness meeting in Jhenaidah on 3 September to promote the use of Bangla QR, aiming to make digital transactions easier, safer and more accessible nationwide. Shamsul Arefeen, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, Khulna, attended as chief guest and outlined the benefits of Bangla QR for both customers and merchants at the event, titled “Awareness Meeting on the Expansion of Bangla QR.”
UCB Deputy Managing Director Sufia Akter, who attended as special guest, said Bangla QR would let businesses accept payments with ease while enabling customers to transact quickly, securely and conveniently, according to a press release. She also detailed UCB’s initiatives supporting the wider adoption of digital payments.
Senior officials from Bangladesh Bank and UCB joined the meeting alongside representatives of various banks, government and private organisations, businesspeople, professionals, students and members of the public.
The event included a live demonstration of Bangla QR, giving guests the chance to scan codes at merchant outlets and complete purchases digitally. UCB also distributed Bangla QR codes to local businesses attending the meeting.
Participants said such initiatives would help expand access to simple, secure digital payment facilities and further Bangladesh’s broader digital transformation drive.
