A film titled The Orange, based on the story of a young woman who moves to France in search of a new place to call home, is set to be made.
The Bangladesh-France co-production will be directed by Swapan Ahmed.
The film features Tauquir Ahmed, Swarnali Choity and Faizul Yamin, among others, in different roles.
Recently, a mahurat ceremony for the film was held at the office of the production company in the capital, attended by the cast and crew.
Sharing his thoughts about the project, actor and filmmaker Tauquir Ahmed said, “The Orange is exactly the kind of film I believe in making—one that can make people think, offer them a new perspective and encourage them to ask questions.”
Actress Swarnali Chaiti said she had developed a kind of emotional connection with her character from the moment she received the script.
She also said that she is currently preparing for the finer details of the role.
Faizul Yamin made his big-screen debut last Eid-ul-Fitr with filmmaker Raihan Rafi’s Pressure Cooker.
The Orange will be the second film of his career.
Expressing his excitement about joining the new project, the actor said, “From beginning to end, this is a completely different kind of film. I feel fortunate to be part of such a project. If our entire team can deliver its best performance, I believe the film will go a long way.”
Director Swapan Ahmed hopes to take the film to audiences around the world.
He said that, following the completion of all preparations, shooting for The Orange is scheduled to begin in France later this month, in September.
