Actor Ziaul Faruq Apurba stepped into a new role on Saturday as he performed live on a large stage for the first time in New York, receiving an enthusiastic response from Bangladeshi fans.
The actor’s highly anticipated solo musical show drew a packed audience despite ticket prices ranging from Tk12,000 to Tk37,000.
For Apurba, who has spent more than two decades as one of Bangladesh’s most recognisable television actors, the experience marked a memorable new chapter in his career.
Following the concert, Apurba took to social media to express his gratitude to the New York audience.
“New York, you have won my heart. You are in my heart,” he wrote.
Reflecting on the evening, the actor said feeling the audience’s excitement and affection while standing on stage felt like a dream come true.
He added that he would cherish the memory for the rest of his life and thanked everyone involved in making the event possible.
The response had already begun building after the concert was announced.
Apurba previously said he was surprised by the overwhelming reaction, revealing that the show received an unexpectedly strong response within just 24 hours of the announcement.
Music has been part of Apurba’s life since his younger days.
Although he once dreamed of pursuing a career in music, he eventually entered the entertainment industry through acting and went on to become one of the leading faces of Bangladeshi television.
Now based in the United States with his wife and child, Apurba’s New York concert offered fans an opportunity to see him in a different role—this time, as a performer behind the microphone rather than in front of the camera.
