Biman Bangladesh Airlines has suspended all flight operations from Dhaka to Riyadh until 17 October. The national flag carrier took the decision due to the suspension of operations at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, 51 flights on various routes from Dhaka to Saudi Arabia have been cancelled, leaving around 5,500 passengers stranded in Dhaka. A total of 51 flights across 10 airlines were cancelled up to 5:00 pm on Monday, comprising 12 direct flights and 39 transit flights.

Over the last two days, flight cancellations were limited only to the Dhaka-Riyadh route. However, Saudi authorities have also been cancelling flights on the Dammam, Jeddah, and Madinah routes since last midnight.

Among direct flights, Biman Bangladesh Airlines saw four cancellations, US-Bangla Airlines two, Saudia Airlines three, and Riyadh Airways three.

Among transit flights, IndiGo Airlines recorded the highest number of cancellations with 16 flights, all of which were transit flights. Other transit flight cancellations included nine by Emirates, five by Qatar Airways, five by flydubai, three by SalamAir, and one by EgyptAir.

Saudi authorities suspended all flight operations following attacks by Houthi rebels in two phases on King Fahd International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday and Sunday.
