Robert Lewandowski scored twice on his home debut as Chicago Fire beat Charlotte FC 2-1 in Major League Soccer on Sunday.
Charlotte started the match well and took an early lead. Pep Biel found the net after receiving a pass from Idan Toklomati.
Chicago responded quickly. Philip Zinckernagel headed the ball into Lewandowski’s path and the Polish striker scored the equaliser.
Charlotte created more chances before the break but failed to convert them. The first half ended 1-1.
Lewandowski struck again in the 68th minute to give Chicago the lead. His second goal proved to be the winner.
Charlotte enjoyed more of the ball during the match but could not break through Chicago’s defence again.
The win extended Charlotte’s poor run against Chicago. They have not beaten the Fire since 2024.
Lewandowski recently joined Chicago after leaving Barcelona. The former Poland captain made an instant impact by scoring both goals in his first home appearance.
