Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rescued six people after a tourist boat capsized in the Sangu River at Boropathar in Thanchi, Bandarban. One tourist remains missing.
The accident occurred around 5:30pm Friday in Boropathar, under the jurisdiction of Tendurmukh BGB camp of Bolipara Battalion (38 BGB).
A tourist boat carrying seven passengers sank amid strong currents, BGB said.
The missing person has been identified as Md Zawad Ul Islam Mahiyan, 24, son of Md Helal Uddin and Mosammat Delowara Akter of Maskanda village, Mymensingh.
Since the incident, four special BGB patrol teams have been conducting rescue operations in the Sangu River. Local representatives, boatmen, tour guides, and villagers have actively joined the efforts. To strengthen the operation, BGB has involved the Thanchi Fire Service.
