Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC sponsored the “Shahjalal Islami Bank Open and Junior Tennis Tournament-2026”, which concluded at the National Tennis Complex in Ramna, Dhaka, with participation from 159 players across the country.
The seven-day tournament, organised by Bangladesh Tennis Federation, featured competitions in eight categories, including men’s and women’s singles and doubles, alongside under-12 and under-16 events, the bank said in a press release.
Youth and Sports State Minister Md Aminul Haque attended the final and closing ceremony on Tuesday as chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners.
Shahjalal Islami Bank Chairman Mohammed Younus attended the programme as special guest.
Bangladesh Tennis Federation President Abdul Hai Sarkar presided over the event.
The tournament included men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, under-12 boys’ singles, under-12 girls’ singles, under-16 boys’ singles and under-16 girls’ singles events.
All matches were held in a knock-out format.
Addressing the programme, the state minister congratulated the winners and encouraged those who lost to continue focusing on improving their performance.
He said the government has undertaken various initiatives to support sports development in Bangladesh and thanked players who participated from different parts of the country.
Speaking at the event, Shahjalal Islami Bank Chairman Mohammed Younus said the bank has been carrying out various corporate social responsibility activities alongside its banking operations.
He said the bank has been contributing to the development of sports in Bangladesh and would continue supporting similar initiatives in the future.
Among others attending the programme were Bangladesh Tennis Federation General Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Curren, Tournament Director Shafiqul Islam Sohel, Tournament Referee Zain Omar and Shahjalal Islami Bank Head of Public Relations and Bank Foundation K M Harunur Rashid.
