The government has ordered that lights on billboards, trade fairs and cultural events be switched off by 7pm to save electricity and fuel.
Shops and markets must also close at the same time.
The Cabinet Division issued letters on Monday to all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners, requesting implementation of the directive.
The letter stated that on 4 April the prime minister met representatives of business organisations, agreeing to keep shopping malls, markets and shops open until 7pm.
The same time limit will apply to ongoing and upcoming trade fairs and cultural programmes. In line with the PM’s instructions, all billboard lights must be turned off by 7pm, and fairs and cultural events must also close by that time.
