The upcoming second season of ‘The Studio’ will acknowledge the death of Catherine O’Hara, who played Patty Leigh, a mentor and former studio head.
The Emmy-winning actress passed away on January 30 at the age of 71 due to a pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer listed as an underlying cause.
Co-creator Evan Goldberg described O’Hara as “the anchor” of the show, noting that her absence has posed an emotional and creative challenge for the team.
Seth Rogen, who stars as Matt Remick, added that the season will reflect the loss without dwelling excessively on it. “We are not ignoring it,” he said.
O’Hara was celebrated for her generosity and talent, with Rogen recalling her ability to be both kind and brilliant on set. She recently posthumously won the Actor Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series, with Rogen accepting on her behalf.
He encouraged fans to remember her work, highlighting iconic moments such as her dancing in ‘Beetlejuice’ and her performance in ‘Best in Show’.
“We are lucky to have lived in a world where she could so genuinely share her talents with us,” Rogen said.
