The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Wednesday approved a Tk500 crore zero-coupon bond issuance by Akij Food and Beverage Limited.

The commission cleared the company’s proposal to issue unsecured, non-convertible, fully redeemable bonds with a tenure of six months to five years. The bonds will be offered through private placement to banks, non-bank financial institutions, insurance companies, institutional investors, and high-net-worth individuals.

Each bond unit will have a face value of Tk1,000,000 and will be sold to investors at a discounted price. Sena Insurance PLC has been appointed as trustee, while North Star Investments (BD) Limited will act as fund arranger.

The regulatory approval was disclosed by BSEC Director and Spokesperson Md Abul Kalam following the commission’s 1,004th meeting.
