Amina Begum, a dedicated social worker who served the Bangladeshi community in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on the morning of 25 February while undergoing treatment. She was 87.

Her Namaz-e-Janaza was held today, 28 February, at the Baitul Aman Jame Masjid on Road 7 in Dhanmondi. She will be laid to rest on Sunday, at her family graveyard in Lashkardia village under Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur district.

Amina Begum is survived by two sons, three daughters, and a host of relatives and well-wishers. Her eldest son, Hashim Reza, is a former director (news) of Bangladesh Television, and her youngest son, Shah Aminul Huq, served as a former Secretary to the government.

The family of the deceased has requested everyone to pray for the departed soul.
