Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Wednesday announced that students of kindergarten will now be included in the fifth-grade government primary scholarship examinations, ending years of uncertainty over their participation.

The minister said 80 percent of scholarships will be allocated to government primary school students, while the remaining 20 percent will be reserved for kindergarten school students.

He also confirmed that the fifth-grade scholarship exam, which was not held in December 2025, will be conducted this year.

“We are planning to hold the exam in April, after the Eid holidays,” he added.

The education minister made the announcement while releasing the Junior Scholarship exam results at the Secretariat.

He unveiled the results for all divisions across the country.

In the December 2025 examination, nearly 3,50,000 students participated at 611 centres nationwide.

Of these, 46,200 students under the nine general education boards received scholarships, including 14,700 merit scholarships and 31,500 general scholarships.

The minister also indicated plans to increase the number of scholarships in the coming year.
