BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has been sworn in as the new prime minister of Bangladesh at 4pm on Tuesday at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Twenty-five individuals and 24 others from BNP led alliance who secured two-thirds majority in the 13th parliamentary election have taken oath as ministers and state ministers respectively.

Six elected representatives of the National Citizen Party (NCP) took their oaths on Tuesday as both Members of Parliament and members of he Constitution Reform Council.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin administered the parliamentary oath at 1:22 pm, followed shortly by the swearing-in for the Constitution Reform Council.
The six NCP lawmakers are Nahid Islam, Akhtar Hossain, Hasnat Abdullah, Abdul Hannan Masud, Abdullah Al Amin, and Atiqur Rahman Mujahid. The representatives contested the election under the banner of the Jamaat-led alliance.

Since BNP’s newly elected MPs did not take oath as members of the Constitutional Reform Council, Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance which won 77 seats may have its own swearing-in ceremony halted.
The reason is that if BNP MPs refuse to take oath as members of the reform council, the interim government’s reform process will collapse. In such a situation, Jamaat has declared it will not take any oath at all.
