BNP has expelled nine leaders, including Rumeen Farhana, for submitting nomination papers for the parliamentary elections without the party’s permission.

This information was provided in a press release signed by the party’s Senior Joint Secretary General, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Tuesday.

Rumeen Farhana was serving as the assistant international affairs secretary of BNP’s central committee.

She had submitted nomination papers on Monday to contest in the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency. Junaid Habib of Jamaat-e-Ulama-e-Islam is the BNP-backed candidate that will be contesting in the same constituency.

The other expelled BNP leaders are central executive committee members Giasuddin, Shah Alam, Hasan Mamun, Abdul Khaleq; former convenor of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP, Saiful Alam Nirob; former vice-president of Central Chhatra Dal, Tarun Dey; vice-president of Sylhet District BNP, Mamunur Rashid; and president of Bancharampur Upazila BNP in Brahmanbaria, agriculturalist Mehedi Hasan Palash.

They have been expelled from all levels of posts including primary membership of BNP.
