After four years, actors Arifin Shuvoo and Bidya Sinha Mim are teaming up once again for a new movie titled ‘Malik’. Their last collaboration was in ‘Shapludu’, directed by Golam Sohrab Dudul. The upcoming film is directed by Saif Chandan and marks his seventh project.
Shooting for Malik began in November last year in the Paba area of Rajshahi. Following a lengthy schedule in Natore, the production has now moved to Dhaka. A key scene featuring Mim is currently being filmed at a resort in Savar, near the capital. Arifin Shuvoo, who is currently in the US, will complete his portions later.
Director Saif Chandan said that the main and action sequences have been wrapped up in Rajshahi, with only some remaining song and scene shoots pending. Post-production has already begun, with plans to release the film during Eid.
Malik is an action-packed story centred around the struggle to dominate a port or region. Misha Sawdagar plays the villain, while Nima Rahman appears as Shuvoo’s mother. The cast also includes Barda Mithu, Irfan Medha Shiplu and several others. An item song is set to be filmed soon at the FDC.
Arifin Shuvoo’s recent work includes the film ‘NeelChokro’ and the OTT release Noor. He is also set to appear in the Indian series Jazz City, which will be released on Sony Liv.
Malik marks a return to cinema for Mim after a hiatus following ‘Paraan’ and ‘Damal’. She is also working in a government-funded film, titled ‘Jibon Opera’, and a web film by Chorki. According to Mim, 2026 will be a significant year for her career.
