Carrying mobile phones into polling centres will be prohibited during the 13th parliamentary election and referendum.

Md Shahidul Islam, senior assistant secretary of the Election Commission (EC), issued a notice regarding the matter on Sunday.

According to the notice, mobile phones cannot be brought within 400 yards of the centres. The instruction has been dispatched to all returning officers (ROs) across the country.

However, presiding officers, police in-charges at the polling centres, and Ansar-VDP members on duty are permitted to keep mobile phones. Two Ansar-VDP members using the “Election Protection 2026” app are also exempt from the restriction.
