Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna’s nomination paper for Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency has been cancelled.

Returning Officer and Bogura Deputy Commissioner Md Taufikur Islam made the announcement on Friday, adding that Manna’s nomination paper was cancelled due to discrepancies in the affidavit information and inconsistencies with the date of signature on notary public document.

On Friday at 4pm, while scrutinising nomination papers for the Bogura-2 seat ahead of the 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum in the conference room Karatoa at the Bogura District Administrator’s office, he issued this order.

Simultaneously, he advised that if there were any objections to this order, an appeal could be filed.

Prior to this, he had declared the nomination paper of National Party-nominated former MP Shariful Islam Jinnah invalid due to his status as an accused in a case related to the July movement and being a fugitive.

The other valid candidates in this constituency are Mir Shahe Alam (BNP), Maulana Abul Azad Md Shahadatuzzaman (Jamaat-e-Islami), and Md Jamal Uddin (Islami Andolan). It is noted that a total of seven candidates had submitted nomination forms for Bogura-2 (Shibganj) constituency.

Additionally, the nomination papers of Gono Odhikar Parishad candidate Selim Sarkar and independent candidate Rezaul Karim Talu have also been cancelled.
