Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has said the law and order situation must be maintained at any cost ahead of the 13th national election.
He made the remark while presiding over a meeting at the state guesthouse Jamuna in the capital to review the overall law and order situation in the country.
During the meeting, various issues were discussed, including the return of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, security measures taken for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations, and progress in the investigation into the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi.
The chief adviser also directed the authorities to swiftly arrest those involved in the murder of July fighter Osman Hadi and other illegal activities.
Home Affairs Adviser (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman, and senior officials from various security and law enforcement agencies attended the meeting.
Police informed the chief adviser that 31 suspects involved in recent attacks on the offices of two national dailies, Prothom Alo and The Daily Star, and two cultural organisations had been identified through video footage analysis. Six of them were identified in raids across Dhaka and other parts of the country, they said.
In addition, three individuals attempting to create unrest near the residence of India’s Assistant High Commissioner in Chattogram were identified through video footage.
Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
